If you are contemplating a visit to England this fall, it is possible that you had not thought of visiting the city of Bradford, in West Yorkshire, as Bradford is a little off the popular tourist trail. However if you are a big fan of Indian cooking, or an aficionado of the cinema, or even both of these, then you may well wish to reconsider your plans, and include a day trip to Bradford on your itinerary. Bradford is a mere three hours by train from London.

Bradford, originally a center for the textile industry, has absolutely loads of Indian restaurants, and people flock to Bradford from all over the area to indulge their desire for delicious tikkas, rogan goshts, phul gobis, parathas, and the other delights that Indian cuisine has to offer. There are also a good variety of vegetarian Indian restaurants.

On the cinema front, Bradford is home to the National Media Museum, which is one of the most popular museums in the UK outside of London. Here you can see artefacts covering the history of photography from its beginnings to the present day. There are also exhibits related to television, and even displays about the history of advertising and the ways in which it affects people. There are loads of interactive exhibits that make this museum great fun for children. The museum also contains three cinemas, including an IMAX cinema.

Every summer Bradford hosts the famous Asian festival, the Bradford Mela, which is the biggest mela outside of Asia. At the mela you can enjoy fairground rides, food, and all sorts of interesting events.

Bradford has a lot to offer, and is a great place for a day out or a city break.
