All aboard at St Pancras - mainland Europe, here we come

From today, 14 November 2007, the Eurostar will make its departure for the contintent from St Pancras International instead of from London Waterloo. For those of you who are not so familiar with London, St Pancras is adjacent to King’s Cross, which serves the north of England, and Scotland, whereas Waterloo, though central, is just south of the river, and is the station that serves the south of England, mainly with commuter trains. Additionally, the new high-speed line between London and the Channel Tunnel has cut the journey times by at least 20 minutes, so, especially for people living in Scotland and the north of England, travel over to mainland Europe has never been easier, or faster - you can now get from Newcastle to Paris in just an amazing six hours, from York to Brussels in a staggering four hours and fifty minutes, and from Peterborough to Brussels in a mere three hours and forty minutes.

Leaving from St Pancras, you can get to Paris and Brussels from just £77 return, and Lille from only £73 return. At prices like that, why bother flying? With the train you are taken straight from city centre to city centre, no travelling out to out-of-town airports, and no endless queues at terminals.

Passengers with GNER have the added advantage of being able to buy through-tickets at competitive prices to Paris, Lille and Brussels, so they don’t have to bother buying a separate Eurostar ticket when beginning a journey with GNER.

An extra advantage of a through-ticket is, if you miss your Eurostar service as a result of delays or cancellations to your GNER service on your outbound journey, you will be placed on the next available train to your Continental destination at no extra charge. Similarly, should you miss your GNER train due to delays on Eurostar, you’ll be placed on the next available service to your UK destination.

So with the new St Pancras International, travelling across to France and Belgium from the UK just got faster and more convenient.
