Malta's Various Hotspots
If you're heading on holiday to Malta, you'll be happy to discover that this beautiful archipelago has a myriad of places for you to see - as well as plenty of exciting things to do. From deep sea diving in the warm waters of the Mediterranean to checking out fascinating historic sites dating back years into Malta's incredible history, there really is something for everyone in this Southern European gem.
No matter what you're into, whether it's exploring the history of a new place and finding out how it developed through the ages or taking in the landscape with its new sights and sounds, Malta never fails to disappoint even the most discerning of holidaymakers. With plenty of activities on hand to entertain visitors of all types, Malta is a welcoming and friendly nation. You'll be able to find access to great local amenities amongst a community that is accepting and hospitable to tourists, as well as plenty of outlandish activities to take part in - such as waterskiing, deep sea diving and other water sports like snorkelling - where you can get up close and personal with the colourful sea life below the waves.
Of course, Malta isn't all about extreme sports and life out on the waves. With a history stretching back thousands of years, the country has plenty of fascinating backstory up its sleeves. Discover ancient temples, such as the megalithic complex of Mnajdra, Roman mosaics depicting awe-inspiring images, Byzantine artefacts and, more recently-dated, stunning architecture that really brings the cities to life. St Paul's Cathedral in Mdina, for example, is a breathtaking building that was created at the end of the 17th century and shows off a stunning example of the Baroque style. You'll also find many points of beauty, such as the gorgeous Lower Barrakka Gardens of Valetta and, if that doesn't quite pique your interest, perhaps the underground catacombs will!
Spooky and surreal, the various catacombs running beneath Malta are one of the country's most intriguing hotspots for tourists to take in, where you can explore a curious network of tunnels underground on exciting tours. Back above ground, you may want to cool off from the catacombs with a few refreshments. These can come in the form of visiting one of the many excellent restaurants nearby or perhaps by booking yourself onto the recommended wine tasting tour at Marsovin Winery, an enjoyable tour where you can sample the products as you learn!
There are plenty of great places to visit when you're not relaxing in
